In Malda, we partnered with Talash- Society for Inner Strength, Peace & Equality, a dedicated organization working tirelessly for child rights, protection, and youth empowerment.
Our collective vision? A society free from gender violence and human trafficking, where every child can thrive and fulfil their potential.
Talash was started in 2012 and is based in rural Malda, in West Bengal and works on issues of child rights, child protection as well as adolescent and youth empowerment by equipping adolescent girls with skills to make safer choices and aims to work towards creating a society free form gender violence.
To achieve this, Talash addresses socio cultural issues such as early marriage and other social issues of domestic violence, safety, trafficking through formation of adolescent girls’ groups led by peer leaders and field social workers through 3 core tools:
- Talim- Empowerment and Inner well-being.
- Golachunt- Games for Change- Learning through games and role plays.
- Digital story telling- Creating their own story/ content through narration.
Together, this tool empowers the girls and youth not just with awareness and knowledge but an inner ability to speak for herself and make right choices.
Impact? In the long run, more than 1200 girls will be empowered, influencing more girls through their journey, creating a strong legacy for a safe community.
