Ragini’s journey shows how the right opportunity, guidance and encouragement can help someone discover their potential.
As a 10th-grade dropout and former salesgirl in Chickpet, Ragini often struggled with self-doubt because of her limited education. She felt that her academic background would limit her future and she thought there was not much opportunity beyond working in retail.
Her journey started to change when her friend, Suriya, referred her to a hairdressing course at Oasis. With the guidance and support of Zac Sir, who mentored her and also helped fund her training, Ragini got an opportunity to learn new skills and explore her creativity.
Through Oasis’ training, she learned hairstyling, makeup, facials and other beauty skills. Her first earnings were small but meaningful. ₹200 for a U-cut, ₹150 for a de-tan, and some additional income from facials and hair curling. These small earnings made her happy and slowly helped her build confidence, one client and one skill at a time.
Throughout this journey, Ragini also had the support of her mother, who always encouraged her to become independent and stand on her own feet. Her mother’s support gave her the strength to keep going even when things were difficult.
Today, Ragini proudly sees herself as an artist and stylist. She can walk into salons and homes with more confidence and a clear sense of purpose. She no longer feels that her education decides what she can achieve. Instead, she understands that the skills and passion she has developed also matters.
Ragini’s story is a reminder that a person’s circumstances or educational background does not always have to decide their future. With the right skills, guidance and support, people can discover their strengths, build confidence and create new opportunities for themselves.
