Mrs. Phakim of Songpi Village received five packets of pumpkin seeds from Oasis India’s livelihood support initiative in January 2026. She cultivated them on her upland farm and began harvesting pumpkins from May.
Her efforts have already brought encouraging results. Mrs. Phakim has earned more than ₹40,000 from selling pumpkins and continues to harvest pumpkins and pumpkin leaves.
With her earnings, she purchased seeds for the next cultivation season, including American pea and cabbage, and also used part of the income to meet labour costs for her paddy field.
Her journey shows how timely livelihood support can help rural families create income and strengthen food security. A small agricultural input can become an opportunity for continued cultivation and a more secure future.
