Dimapur Railway Station is one of the major railway gateways to Nagaland and serves as an important transit point for people travelling across Northeast India. With a high movement of passengers, including children, young people and women travelling alone or under vulnerable circumstances, the station is a strategic location for human trafficking prevention and early intervention.
Our Work at the Project Site
At Dimapur Railway Station, Oasis India works to identify and respond to potential trafficking risks through community-based prevention, awareness, monitoring and support.
Key activities include:
- Identifying vulnerable travellers: Observing and identifying situations or behaviours that may indicate a person is at risk of trafficking, exploitation or unsafe migration.
- Human trafficking awareness: Engaging travellers, railway stakeholders and the wider community to increase understanding of trafficking, recruitment tactics and associated risks.
- Prevention and early intervention: Providing timely information, guidance and support to individuals who may be vulnerable to trafficking or exploitation.
- Coordination and referrals: Working with relevant authorities, service providers and partner organisations when individuals require protection, counselling, rescue or other support.
- Safe travel awareness: Encouraging children, young people and other vulnerable travellers to make informed decisions and recognise potentially dangerous situations.
