A sporting chance

 

A summer of sport and adventure has brought joy to the lives of boys from slum communities and surrounding areas in Bangalore and Chennai. They’ve acquired new skills and the lessons they have learnt about life, friendship and team work will last long after the summer ends.

Record breaking

Pure joy was written across the faces of the boys in Chennai when they realized they’d broken the relay-marathon record. The final runner crossed the line only 5 seconds ahead of the 1 hour 46 minutes and 25 seconds record set by Oasis UK.

It was an exciting finale to a month of sports camps, where boys from slum communities received professional coaching in partnership with Christian Sports Fellowship.

Adventure camp

Our football boys from Bangalore swapped their everyday lives for a few days of adventure in Ooty. In learning to gorge walk, abseil and cross rivers on ropes, they developed confidence and learnt more about team work and friendship.
