As we help people live healthier lives, they’re becoming an inspiration to others. Read on to find out how a community that’s home to pimps, gangs and drug dealers is being transformed, and discover the difference health care and counseling can make to women rescued from prostitution.

 

Positive change

‘I was not aware what HIV was. Now after one week we have learnt about it and today we have gone for testing,’ says Anu, who lives in the Hallegudhahalli slum area, Bangalore.

We are teaching people in Anu’s community about HIV, how it is spread, how to prevent it and how to treat it. And we’re passing on useful skills like English conversation and computing, helping them lead healthy and fulfilling lives.

Good counsel


Providing health care to women who have been rescued from brothels goes deeper than taking people’s temperatures and giving out pills. It’s also about providing all that these hurting women need to turn their backs on prostitution for good.
