Taking Control
‘Big people keep money in the bank, so now we also feel like we have something. I feel very good because I can take some responsibility,’ says Pooja, a member of a self help group in Dyaneshwar Nagar slum in
Bandra.
Many of the women in India’s slums must rely on their husband’s income. Self help groups are empowering them to save, improving their self respect and giving their families more security. And now the ladies are learning to do the group accounts and are visiting other ladies, motivating them to start new groups.

Football has turned around the life of eighteen-year-old Suresh from Bangalore. He is living his footballing dream. Suresh trained with Oasis team the Bangalore Yellows and now plays for
the state-level team Sri Gajanana.
