Fund A Place on an Oasis India Vocational Training Course

Oasis India is committed to working with people who live in slums or are homeless. Its vocational training courses are for women who are living with HIV, escaping from prostitution, domestic violence or the effects of poverty. They are also for homeless young men. Since 1994, Oasis India has provided vocational training for over 500 women and men; and IT training for over 1000 people since 2001. However, the number of people we are able to help is being limited by the required funding. Please consider whether you are able to support this work.

The Facts So Far... *Oasis India offers courses alongside computer training.

  • Tailoring (including specialist embroidery skills)
  • Screen-Printing
  • A new course has been started, offering training in English conversation and lifeskills, gearing students for employment in the customer service industries.

*Many graduates have gained employment - manufacturing products for Oasis India and other local companies, setting up their own businesses, training others and becoming members of Oasis India staff.
*Oasis keeps in touch with ex-trainees and provides ongoing support and advice. The courses run in Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and at Purnata Bhavan (an Oasis-run care community centre for women and children infected and/or affected by HIV AIDS). Courses are delivered at Oasis centres and in various slum communities.
