About Us

Oasis India works for the transformation and empowerment of individuals and communities through projects based on advocacy, health care, education, rehabilitation, training and resourcing.

Unlocking potential

From women sold to brothels to children affected by HIV to families living in slum areas, Oasis India works with some of the most marginalized and vulnerable people in India’s cities. We do all we can to help them heal, unlock their full potential and play active roles in their communities.

Relationships are at the heart of our work. Each individual we work with is precious and we try to help them live as full a life as possible.

We know that we cannot fight injustice and poverty on our own, so we work in partnership with like minded organizations.

We’re thrilled that many of our projects are now staffed by former beneficiaries. As people’s lives are transformed, their desire is often to serve others.

Areas of work

Our work is diverse so we’ve broken it down into four main areas: anti human trafficking; community development; education and training; and health and rehabilitative care. We look after the whole person, so many of our projects include more than one of these areas.

Our work in India began in Mumbai 1993 with support from the UK. We then extended to Bangalore where the organization was officially registered as a charity in 1994. We began working in Chennai in 2005 in response to the tsunami.

Worldwide

Oasis started life as a hostel for homeless young people in London in 1985. More than two decades on, and Oasis now has over 400 staff, students and volunteers working in 11 countries across the globe.
